New Delhi — In an innovative move to curb traffic violations and improve road safety, the Delhi Traffic Police has launched a program that allows citizens to report traffic rule violations via a mobile app — with a chance to earn up to ₹50,000 per month as a reward.
The initiative is aimed at encouraging community participation in maintaining law and order on the roads by crowdsourcing vigilance. Citizens who spot any violations such as helmetless riding, triple riding, wrong-side driving, signal jumping, or using mobile phones while driving, can now record the incident and upload photos or videos using the designated app.
How It Works:
Citizens need to download the ‘Traffic Sentinel’ app (or the designated Delhi Police traffic app).
Upon witnessing a traffic violation, users can capture and upload photographic or video evidence.
The location and time of the incident should be clearly visible.
Each valid report earns the user points — and these points can be converted into cash rewards.
Top performers can earn up to ₹50,000 a month, depending on the volume and accuracy of their reports.
